The first Rochet cars made were based on the designs of Edouard Rossel of Lille. These Rochet cars used front-mounted 2-cylinder engines ‘of Daimler type’ of 6/8hp, 4-speed gearboxes and double chain drive. In 1900 a 12hp Rochet car was added, and a wide variety of body styles was available, including an enclosed limousine. Smaller Rochet cars with 4½hp single-cylinder Aster engines were made in 1902, and in 1904 Danneels of Ghent secured the licence to build Rochet cars for Belgium, Holland and Great Britain.
