The Wills Sainte Claire car, so called after its devisor, Childe Harold Wills, who had helped to develop the Ford Model T and Lake Sainte Claire near his factory, was a beautifully made luxury car. From 1921 to 1924, the Wills Sainte Claire car had a V8 engine of 4.3-litres, with the advanced feature of two overhead camshafts (one to each bank of cylinders). In spite of this, the Wills Sainte Claire car produced a modest 67bhp at 2.800rpm. However, considering the Wills Sainte Claire car’s quality and specification, $2.475 for this Wills Sainte Claire car in 1923 was not a high price. Such a figure was only possible with production of the order of 1.500 Wills Sainte Claire cars a year, which the Wills Sainte Claire car company attained in 1923. In 1924, a long-stroke ohc engine, with 6-cylinders in line, replaced the V8, and this Wills Sainte Claire car model remained in production, with slight changes, until 1927.
