Charm in miniature: the Eureka ‘Sport 23’ from Paris

While browsing through the sales listings, we came across this stunning pedal car: a Eureka EK 02, better known as the ‘Sport 23’, built in Paris between 1923 and 1926.

The Sport 23 was the second pedal car produced by Eureka. It features a wooden chassis and chain drive, proudly bearing the logo of Chenard et Walcker. The car is equipped with a hand-operated brake lever and was later fitted with working electric lights.

The paintwork still appears to be in its original red and blue colours, with a beautiful patina that has developed over the past century. The rexine seat covering also seems to be original. The seat is adjustable, allowing the young driver to continue enjoying the car as they grew taller.

At 153 cm in length, this is no small pedal car – it must have been quite an experience to ‘drive’. Beneath the opening bonnet sits the battery, while the replica radiator bears the emblem of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium.

For the first time, this unique pedal car is now coming to market after spending many years in a private collection. It is offered by Julian Parker Ltd, an award-winning restoration company from Sussex, England. Recently, the company began offering carefully selected automobilia, setting a high standard with this exceptional example.
