Cars and fashion have always had ties, and as with clothes plenty of people see a car as the extension of themselves. Yes, we too believe that a motor vehicle can be a bit of a lifestyle - to some degree. Toyota Prius drivers, be aware.
So over to not one but two Friday Ladies for now - it is almost the Easter weekend after all. Both shots date back to about the same period but the outfits seen on these shots could hardly be more differentiated. First there’s the masculine look with flared trousers of costume designer Rina Rochas, supposedly photographed here in Biarritz in 1930. That must have been something in its day! For a split-second we thought that was a Bucciali behind her – but that French registered car surely must be something American? Duesenberg? Cord?
The other lady is quite the opposite in romantic dress and hat, looking very happy to make a ride in that big two-seater - or to have just survived a scary ride in it alive and well..? It’s left-hand-driven, so another American monster? As always, we love to hear from you.
Have a great Easter weekend.
