I own a pair of early electric, nickel-plated Salsbury lamps with cut-glass bowls, which I have been told were produced prior to 1914 because the company was sold in 1915 due to one of the shareholders being German.
These lamps were inherited from my father around 1977, and despite much research, I have not been able to establish anything concerning their history.
I believe them to be rare because, over the years, I've looked at hundreds of pictures of veteran and vintage automobiles and have never seen anything remotely like this pair.
Last year, a crack in one glass bowl was repaired by an antique glass restorer, and I managed to source a suitable U-shaped rubber replacement for the perished original cork gaskets, so the glass is now held firmly against the metal. They were re-nickel-plated about 20 years ago.
Does anyone know more about them?
