At the always delightful Festival of Slowth in Decize, the crowd was treated to a rare and surprisingly lively piece of motoring history: an original Grahame-White cyclecar – complete with its wooden chassis, air-cooled single-cylinder engine, and a healthy dose of character – actually managed, with a little encouragement along the way, to complete a lap!
Built in the early 1920s by a British aviation pioneer with ambitions on four wheels, these cars are now virtually extinct. Quirky, wobbly, not exactly reliable… but utterly fascinating. Which makes it all the more special to witness one actually driving under its own power.
