One of our favourite events returns this year: the Rallye Paris–Rambouillet, a celebration for enthusiasts of Paris, French gastronomy and early motoring. The PreWarCar.com team has taken part on several occasions, each time with great enthusiasm.
On Sunday morning, 31 May, participants set off from Les Invalides. As the city awakens, the route leads through the heart of Paris towards the Château de Versailles, where a first stop is made overlooking the iconic palace. Lunch takes place at the Château de Dampierre, combined with a small exhibition. By late afternoon, the rally arrives at the Château de Rambouillet, where the day concludes with a reception.
The modern event pays tribute to the original Paris–Rambouillet race of 1899, then part of the two-day Fête des Voiturettes, organised by the magazine Le Sport Universel Illustré. On 19 October that year, 35 competitors covered approximately 104 kilometres from Suresnes via Versailles to Rambouillet and back to Paris. The race featured three classes based on engine power. Louis Renault won Category A in 2 hours and 49 minutes. The event marked an important stage in the development of light cars and is considered a milestone in early motorsport, where innovation, reliability and speed were paramount.
Today, however, the focus is no longer on speed, but on experience, camaraderie and the enjoyment of the surroundings.

Always a warm welcome in Versailles, with plenty of oyster platters and white wine
Pure bliss
I think there are still a few spots left
