When classic car enthusiasts are asked what exactly they like about driving around in their Spartan old motors they will tell that modern cars all look the same – contrary to the old ones, which had at least individuality.
It has to be said, they do have a point there. While every modern motor manufacturer will tell you that they are the most distinct, expressive, fashionable et cetera, they all come up with SUVs looking pretty much like massive lumps of soap. We all know the excuses - safety, efficiency, aerodynamics…
But then we saw the two drawings from Collier magazine attached here, which gave an overview of all the (mass) produced cars of the USA back in 1939 and 1940. Have a look at that. It’s good that they placed the article in the colour segment of the magazine so that they could publish these cars in a wide variety of bright colours for otherwise they would all look the same! Striking isn’t it?
