As you probably all know, the first cars of the make Ferrari were constructed in 1946, which does not imply that Enzo was having pasta and nothing else before that. Far from it. He joined Alfa as a driver in 1920 and took over their racing activities in 1929 under the name Scuderia Ferrari. The embroidered banner of 1933 is a witness of the early days and will be under auction at Bonhams Auction of Collectors Cars & Autmobilia in London today, 2 December. Not so many people know that the first car constructed by Enzo was on the road in 1940. Not a Ferrari in name though. See this 1940 Auto Avio Costruzione (FerrariModelsClub.it) and note the remarkable resemblance of the headlights with the only recently introduced Lancia Thesis (FocusMsn.de). There is a very nice Ferrari history & timeline (as of 1898) at FerrariofWashington.com . (Banner photo courtesy Bonhams, London)
