The Royal liberation Bentley (Updates: see Read More).

Robert Roozeman sends a snapshot he only very recently found at a jumble. It must be almost 60 years old. Today the 5th of May the Dutch celebrate the 60 years anniversary of liberation. It is also a day of reconciliation with former enemies. Flags will be out everywhere. The atmosphere in towns at places will be like on this photo showing the Royal family after returning from London (July 1945). In the open Bentley 'M 1283563' (three stars, meaning it is a Commanders automobile?) the military chauffeur is just in front of Princess Juliana. To the right Prince Bernard turning around to look at at the young princess Beatrix (Queen since 1980). Now maybe you can tell us a little more about this Bentley which was already used by Prince Bernard during his London years (a 4,5 lite ? Coachwork by ....., year ? ) The funny thing is that the car is known from numerous photos with details differing in about every shot! Officially the car was olive green. On several photos it has a polished, alloy bonnet. On other photos it has a different licence plate. Sometimes combined with a siren instead of the second claxon. There are also photos showing the car with and others without rear bumper. Maybe the changing details only have to do with the changes that well use and time bring to a car? Who can say ?
