1936 Rudge Crescent Road Racer Bicycle.

An authentic, rideable pre-war British racing bicycle with beautiful original patina.

If you appreciate vintage bicycles with honest history, this 1936 Rudge Crescent is a remarkable survivor. Built in Coventry before the war, it features a 24-inch frame with a distinct sloping top tube, giving it a classic, sporty racing geometry that stands out from standard roadsters of the era.

This bike hasn't been over-restored or stripped of its character. It shows a wonderfully scruffy, honest patina throughout, yet still retains glimpses of its original enamel paint, factory transfers, and gold lining. Best of all, it isn't just a display piece. Fitted with recent new tyres and tubes, this Rudge is fully ridable and ready for vintage cycling events or weekend spins.

Key Specifications and Period Components

Frame Size: 24-inch with a sporty sloping top tube.

Wheel Size: 26" inch x 1.3/8" inch

Gearing: Rare Sturmey Archer K6 3-speed hub—a highly collectible piece of cycling history on its own.

Handlebars: Rod-operated North Road semi-drop handlebars for a classic riding position.

Saddle: Time honoured Brooks B17 leather saddle.

Accessories: Comes equipped with a vintage rear carrier, a brass Lucas bell, and an original Brittanalloy aluminium pump.

Condition and Rideability.

Please study the detailed photographs of the bicycle. This bicycle balances mechanical readiness with untouched cosmetic history. The frame and parts show the scratches, wear, and weathering you would expect from a 90-year-old machine, but it remains structurally sound. The rear mudguard has a dent just above the original rear reflector. Thanks to the fresh tyres, you can take it straight out on the road, use it as a hero display, or add it directly to a pre-war British bicycle collection.
