Following the unexpected passing of its owner, this impressive 1904 Aster 16/20 HP four-cylinder is now available for immediate sale.
This Aster offers everything one could wish for in a serious veteran car: power, space, reliability and the ability to complete the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in comfort and with genuine enjoyment. The car has successfully completed the famous Run on several occasions and is already entered for the 2026 edition.
The powerful four-cylinder engine, with mechanically operated valves, was completely dismantled and thoroughly inspected during the past year. New pistons were fitted, while all components were carefully checked and improved where necessary. The timing gear is now also enclosed and fitted with a drain to the crankcase, keeping oil loss to a minimum.
The previous owner was determined to make this Aster one of the best-prepared and most usable veteran cars possible. No expense or effort was spared, with more than €100,000 recently invested in the car. In addition to the engine work, the radiator was repaired, the steering box inspected, new tyres fitted and additional luggage space created. The car has also been equipped with electronic ignition and an improved braking system.
All modern modifications have been discreetly incorporated and can be returned to the original specification if desired. The car has been carefully set up, with even the smallest technical issues addressed.
The engine can be started using either the electric starter or the starting handle. The Aster drives remarkably smoothly and is equipped with a four-speed gearbox. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels by chains, as befits a powerful motor car of this period.
Naturally, the car comes with a Veteran Car Club Dating Certificate. It is currently registered in Belgium.
The hood is not presently fitted to the car, but it is included in the sale together with the complete weather equipment.
This impressive Aster is fully prepared for the 2026 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run and ready for many more adventures.
Viewing is strictly by appointment. If desired, the mechanic responsible for the work can also provide a detailed technical explanation.
