Last weekend the International Concours d'Elégance Soestdijk took place. A beautiful setting in the former Royal Palace was the start of what turned out to be a great event with a variety of cars, in all price ranges, with a beautiful Bugatti 57C Gangloff Speciale convertible as the overall winner.
 
The Gangloff Speciale was not the only T57 on display, as there was another line-up of five different Type 57 Bugattis from just one owner. 
 
Bugatti delivered five different factory bodies new on the Type 57(maybe six if you count the Atlantic), namely Stelvio, Aravis, Galibier, Ventoux and Atalante, and as far as we know, no one has owned them all at the same time. Until now, that is when the Dutch car dealer Fine Automobiles showed them in the palace garden.
 

The award-winning T57 Gangloff Speciale:

 
The winning car was delivered as a Stelvio to coachbuilder Gangloff by the first owner, who wanted some changes made based on the original car. They changed the front wings to the style of an Atalante, and shorter side-steps, differently styled rear wings, and a different roof gave this supercharged car its appearance. 
The car has undergone a thorough restoration, but don't think it's just a show car. The owner drove the car back home after the Concours (about 200 km) and will drive another 2000 km during his holiday next week. A proper motorcar it is!
