A 1960 barnfind rediscovered! the 1905/07 Spyker 15/22

In many cases the stories behind cars are even more intriguing than the automobile itself. Showing here is one of the 14 Spyker cars that are still in existence. The car was known on paper alone, until as we understand it was found in France in the early sixties! The dealer plate of Paris dealer L. Suberbie is still on the firewall. Anyway in the early nineties a vague story about a Spyker car found in French Guyana came to Spyker historian Vincent van der Vinne. The South-American contact told him this was the famous Peking-Paris Spyker. Of course this was not true as the P-P Spyker was a 14/18HP and the car showing here is a 1905/07 15/22HP chassis nr. 15080. This weekend we will be able to study the car more closely. Rumour says that at least 4 other Spykers are hiding in places. True or not, the motorcar showing here will be on display at Concours d'Elegance Paleis Het Loo, coming weekend, 23-24 June. Be sure to visit the PreWarPlaza. (photos and information courtesy Stijnus Schotte and Vincent van der Vinne)
