Snapshots of the halfway stop: London–Brighton 2025

At first light, the heavens had opened, and there were worries that the weather would put a dampener on the day. But the clouds soon parted as the first few bikes and cars arrived at the Hawth Theatre pit stop in Crawley.

With autumn sunlight now shining through the trees, the cars gleamed in the light.

I doubt that, though I cannot refute the suggestion. The car has several Lacoste & Battmann features like early Barré's sometimes had, but the still existing veteran Barré specimens have different lever and handle configurations. I still have hope that the owner will react, or somebody who has actually made a photo from a different angle.

Ariejan, I think I found it. 1903 Georges Richard.

Laurens, thank you, that’s the car indeed. It was obviously in the run, but the entry list apparently has had some last minute modifications which have not been implemented in that list. However I have serious doubts about its identity, because it would be the most atypical Georges Richard I’ve ever seen. In the advert on your site in 2021 it also indicates ‘anonyme’, so the identity clearly is not that certain. I have another possibility, but it’s too premature to share it at this stage as it needs some more research.

Normally I’m not the man asking for an id, but in this very nice photo series there is one car which puzzles me: it concerns the little red car taken in side view halfway the series and which I can’t find in the participants list (see photo below). Could someone please enlighten me?
