The first British Salmson cars were 1½-litre 4-cylinder twin ohc fast tourers based on the French Salmson S.4C model. A later and less sporting British Salmson 14hp model (1937 – 1938) had independent front suspension. The ’British Salmson 20-90’ was an entirely British 2.6-litre twin ohc sports car with independent front suspension, made in very small numbers from 1936 onwards. In 1939 this was the only model offered. British Salmson otherwise acting as importers of the present company’s 4-cylinder machines.
