The Millot car used a 6 or 8hp vertical 2-cylinder engine with chain-driven gearbox and twin chain final drive. A 12hp 4-cylinder tonneau Millot car was also made and, in 1902, an 8hp 4-cylinder Millot car. Millot also made a number of mobile saw benches with rear-mounted single-cylinder engines of 9hp. These were made for a number of years from about 1900, and their crude appearance makes them seem older than the Millot cars proper.
The Swiss Millot cars were designed by Eugene Kauffmann who had built buses since 1904. An ambitious range of two fours (25/30 and 40/50hp), and two sixes (35/50 and 70/80hp) Millot cars was announced. The Millot cars had separately-cast cylinders, with shaft drive on the two smaller models, chain drive on the larger. Millot cars were high-quality machines with such refinements as water-cooled transmission brakes, but very few were made.
