Santler was a bicycle maker who made a few Santler cars from time to time. Santler claimed to have helped Karl Benz to design his first car of 1885, and only to have left Benz because Benz would not give Santler credit for his help. Be that as it may, Santler cars first one, this Santler car was known as the Santler Malvernia, certainly bore a close resemblance to the Benz of the 1890s. The Santler car subsequently was a light, front-engined car in 1902 and a small series of 10hp two- and four-seaters Santler cars were made in 1914. In the early 1920s Santler cars made a few very Morgan-like 3-wheelers under the name Santler Rushabout.
