J.D. Siddeley’s first Siddeley cars were merely thinly-disguised Peugeots on Mercédès lines, with vertical engines, mechanically-operated intlet valves, honeycomb radiators, and side chain drive, this Siddeley car was offered in 2.3-litre, twin-cylinder and 3.3-litre, 4-cylinder 18hp forms. The 6hp single-cylinder runabout Siddeley car was made for Siddeley by Wolseley and this Siddeley car was merely that firm’s light car but the Siddeley car was fitted with a more conventional style of bonnet and radiator. The Siddeley car cost £175. In 1905 Siddeley replaced Herbert Austin as General Manager of Wolseley, and was responsible for the vertical-engined Wolseley-Siddeley cars.
