Adrian Squire’s aim was to build a 1½-litre sports car of the highest possible standard, regardless of price. He used for his Squire car a specially-built twin-ohc Anzani engine developing 105bhp, a Roots supercharger, ENV preselector gearbox and hydraulic brakes. Bodies of the Squire cars were by Ranalah, Vanden Plas and, for the short-chassis two-seater, Markham of Reading. Prices began at £1.195 for the two-seater Squire car, but by 1936 had dropped to £795. Twelve Squire cars were laid down, seven of them having been completed when the Squire car company was liquidated in July 1936. The Squire car name, goodwill and spares were purchased by Val Zethrin who assembled three more Squire cars.
