Identification of early Daimler–Mercedes carburettor?

Hello,

Would anyone be able to tell me what this carburettor is from? It appears to be a very early surface carburettor and has a tag stamped with the words “Daimler” and “Mercedes.” Between the two names, there is what looks like a star symbol. The top part is die-cast, while the bottom section seems to be a higher-quality cast aluminium.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
