Although this picture originally came in black and white, we also wanted to share a beautifully colourised version with you that was done by an anonymous artist who places more gems like it on his Facebook page under the name ‘Imbued with Hues’.
We think the photograph has a very ‘Upstate New York’ feel, but if you look really closely you may just notice the Wisconsin number plate here. With the only added information that the car is a Packard and that the photograph was taken in 1925/1926, there’s not much else to go on. Well, two mouse clicks ahead we found that the Wisconsin winter must have been a particularly white one, with 52.8 inches of snowfall that year, and that coldest October temperatures were measured in a great many of towns in 1925. Oh, the wonders of the world wide web!
But what we would really love to learn is just a little more about that mighty motor car all set for a snowy drive, the beautiful house behind and those fancy looking people standing next to it in their winter coats. Anyone know?
