Oh those lazy hazy crazy days of summer

Any signs of snow in your area yet? Well, only if you are on this side of the world we guess. While midwinter is rapidly approaching us here, elsewhere on the globe spring has turned into summer, with temperatures ready to roast you soon. Hard to believe while tapping this on a keyboard with gloves on.

1927 Fiat 509 S Zagato

Anyway: it may be a great excuse to use for today’s Friday Lady a photograph taken in Italy under very sunny circumstances. We don’t know much about the scantily clad lady herself but do know that the car is a real rarity. It’s one of only three Fiat 509 S’s bodied by Zagato, this one being a 1927 car and seen for sale on this very website not too long ago.

It's chequered career includes being used in motor sports early in its life when registered TR1000. One of the races it took part in was the 1927 Coppa della Perugina. This was a race held only between 1924 and 1928 and set up by a chocolate manufacturer from Perugia. The little 990cc Fiat came fifth in ’27 with competition from the likes of Nuvolari! You may like to know that a revival version of this event is being held in May this year, when this lovely Fiat will make it to the Coppa della Perugina once again after 95 years. It promises to be a pleasant break from that now totally over-hyped Mille Miglia.
