If you’ve got a taste for adventure and have often dreamed of seeing the Far East, what could be better than to ship your vintage or classic car to China and explore the beautiful island of Hainan, which glistens like an emerald in the South China Sea? Only one thing springs to mind: being able to do all that at a special discounted price.

You may already be aware that the PreWarCar.com team has had some wonderful experiences on long-distance vintage rallies around the world. On three occasions, we’ve taken part in events organised by the Classic Vehicle Union of China(click here for photos of 2019), which this year is organising another rally along exhilarating roads, with views to die for.

Between November 13th and 24th, readers will be able to join like-minded enthusiasts for a relaxed tour of the subtropical island of Hainan, one of the most vibrant and verdant islands on the planet, with a warm tropical climate and a coverage of rich rainforests.

There will be five days of driving, over which participants will cover a distance of some 750 miles (1,200km). The rest of the time, you will be free to see the sights, explore the island and relax however you see fit.

The offer:

Normal registration for the rally is €2998 per person, excluding shipment of the car. However, for friends of PreWarCar.com and PostWarClassic.com, a special offer is available.
The entry fee for a team of two is €3,500 (approx. £3,000), which includes registration, hotels, food, as well as the shipping both ways of your car between China and your local port.

Eligible cars:

Very simply, the rally is open to all cars produced between 1904 and 1974, and because the event is sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Tourism, the organisers will accept all eligible entries but they need to approve it first.

If you would like to participate, send the following form (click here) to us by email at office@prewarcar.com and we will forward it to the organisers.

Interested parties must be aware that, in order to guarantee that you will qualify for a Chinese driving licence, you cannot be more than 70 years old.
The deadline for registration is July 31st, 2024.

Planning during the event:

  • November 13th: participants' check-in
  • November 14th: formalities and race training; official welcome dinner in the evening
  • November 15th: vehicle preparation; technical and administrative checks; tours
  • November 16th: Sanya City Tour
  • November 17th: starting ceremony; first day of the journey from Sanya to Qiongzhong
  • November 18th: second day of journey from Qiongzhong to Haikou
  • November 19th: day three of the journey from Haikou to Boao
  • November 20th: day four of the journey from Boao to Wanning
  • November 21st: fifth day of the journey from Wanning to Sanya
  • November 22-24th: vehicle display and general events
  • November 25th: end of events, participants and vehicles depart

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at office@prewarcar.com. We have lots of experience of long-distance historic rallies as well as international shipping.

What a fantastic and different adventure. I'm sad I am too old but still have years to go. Wake up, Chinese government, I would love to visit your country—why deny active pensioners!

Regards,
Peter
