The Pioneer Run increases its appeal—introducing Pioneer Plus

Press release

This year sees the world's longest running veteran motorcycle event move up a gear. The Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club's annual Pioneer Run on Sunday October 5th is launching Pioneer Plus, a complementary run on the same day but for later vintage motorcycles dated between 1915 and 1930. The vintage machines will follow the same route as the veterans but will leave the departure point at Epsom a little later. From there, they will travel through the glorious countryside of Surrey and West Sussex until they reach the finish of the run at Shoreham's historic Art Déco airport. On the way there will be an enjoyable checkpoint and coffee stop at Leonardslee Gardens, where the bikes can be fettled and fussed over by both riders and public alike. After the break it will be onwards to Shoreham Airport where riders will be welcomed by the mayors of both Epsom & Ewell and Adur District Councils and awarded their finishers badges.

The gathering at Shoreham is always a spectacle to be enjoyed by old bike enthusiasts, augmented this year by the later flat tank and saddle tank machines. We expect the new event to be extremely popular and numbers will be limited, so please send for entry forms without delay to the email address below. If you have a suitable veteran bike, officially dated prior to 1915 you can also apply for a Pioneer Run entry form—just say which class you wish to join. Pioneer Run numbers will be unlimited but Pioneer PIus may be restricted.
