This time last year: a pre-war parade through Germany on the Herkomer-Konkurrenz

We are indebted to Christian Börner for sending us this excellent film of a veteran and vintage rally through the scenic towns and villages of old Bavaria, the Herkomer-Konkurrenz. Exclusively for pre-1930 cars, it takes place biannually on the second weekend of July, and the 2024 event attracted 48 entries from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Belgium, Norway and Portugal, and perhaps the most impressive was an 1896 Benz Velo. Christian was lucky enough to take part himself from the passenger seat of Rune Aschim's 1916 Packard Twin-Six, which had travelled from Norway.

It looks like a wonderful event to participate in when it returns for 2026. Until then, please enjoy the film.
