D.B. 6 Monoposte - Deutsch Bonnet Grand Prix
This D.B. 6 Monoposto is a unique survivor from the early post-war years of French motorsport. Built in Champigny and powered by a 2-litre Citroën engine with twin carburettors, it represents the first true single-seater created by Charles Deutsch and René Bonnet.
Unveiled at the reopening of the Montlhéry autodrome in 1947, the car immediately proved its potential by winning its first event. Shortly thereafter it was shortened, lightened and fitted with a more streamlined body—an advanced form it still retains today. In this configuration, René Bonnet raced the car extensively between 1947 and 1950, achieving numerous strong results in hill climbs and Grands Prix across France and beyond.
Hidden away for many years, this remarkable monoposto now returns to the spotlight—an authentic witness to the birth of lightweight French racing engineering.
