Original coachwork by Barker , chassis DN1734 , Engine DN 1736 , Gearbox DN 1734
Chassis DN1734 was delivered 1.10.1928 to Mr. Sidebottom of Ashtone , he comissionned a 2 door coupé by Arnold of Manchester. The car is one of the last 3 L built , already with the 41/2 chassis !
Second owner , Mr Anthony Boyce , fitted a 1923 tourer body by Freestone and Webb in 1967!
Third owner , Mr. Bill Rogers kept this configuration from 1978 to 2003 .
The car was sold by auction in 2004 with an engine failure and very tired overall !
I am the fourth owner , and through Tim Houlding , I succeeded to trace the original Barker boat tail body , which was presented in november 1926 at the London Motos Show fair on chassis LT 1578 . In exchange the Freestone and Webb body found again his original car of 1923 !!
A four year restoration was necessary to bring the car to the standard you see today ! Of course apart the body/ wings and side steps , the engine , gearbox and electrics have all been restored.
The car is visible in Strasbourg / France
