Originally ordered new by the Scottish Racing car enthusiast Major Hartley Whyte of Whyte Mackay Whisky and kept by him until his death in 1977. Only 25,830 genuine miles from new and wonderful, mostly original condition. Recent engine overhaul and mechanical review by specialist.

This very attractive and rare Lagonda LG6 is one of only 18 long chassis examples built of which there were believed to be only 4 built with this elegant factory coachwork of which this one is probably the lowest mileage running example in existence. It was built in 1939 for Major Hartley Whyte of Whyte Mackay Whisky, who was a well-known racing car enthusiast and whose fine collection of cars included a Bentley 8 Litre and an Aston Martin DB4 Zagato. He kept it until his death in 1977 at which point it had only covered 19,959 miles. A Mr Hannah from Glasgow bought it following the Major's death and sold it to the famous London car dealer Dan Margulies in 1984, who was advertising it with an authenticated mileage of 25,000 miles. A copy of the advert in the Motor Sport magazine is in the file. He sold it to an American collector, and whilst in America, it won prizes for its originality and by 2004 it was owned by Mr Barry Briskman of Scottsdale, Arizona and was subject to an article in Hemmings entitled 'The Finest Bentleys that weren't- 1939 Lagonda LG6' (copy included in file). In 2010 the famous American car dealer Hyman Ltd of St Louis who described it as 'in a marvellous state of preservation', sold it to the Arab Prince H.H. Sheikh Nasser Mohamed Al- Ahmed Al- Sabah, the former Prime Minister of Kuwait, for his extensive car collection for 112,000 dollars. It remained in Kuwait until 2021 when it was repatriated to the UK and purchased at auction by our vendor. At that point, the car had only covered 25,800 miles, approximately from new (only 800 miles covered in 37 years of living abroad). Due to standing for long periods of time and petrol wash down the bores, it was decided to totally strip the engine and fit new valves and guides, pistons, liners, new water pump, and other ancillary components, all supplied by the Lagonda Club spares scheme. The bottom end of the engine was found to be in excellent condition. This work was completed earlier this year, and we are informed that the car runs and drives well. It is in good, mostly original condition and is complete with its original toolkit and built-in jacking system under one of the spare wheel covers. It still has its original valve radio and speaker. Unusually, it still has its original tinned finish to the fuel tank and underwing mesh stone guards, which is rarely seen and confirms its low mileage. It is supplied with its original handbook, a handwritten account of the car's history in the back, various magazine articles and adverts relating to the car and recent engine overhaul bills.
