Here for sale is a particularly attractive early metal-bodied Monaco, finished in dark blue over black with nicely proportioned four door all metal coachwork. Upright and purposeful in the way only a proper pre-war sporting saloon can be.
Inside, the largely original black leather interior has just the right amount of age and character – honest, usable and entirely in keeping with the car.
Under the bonnet sits its original 1089cc twin-cam four cylinder engine. Advanced for the period and eager in nature, the twin-cam Riley unit gives the Monaco genuinely sprightly performance.
Light controls, direct steering and that unmistakable mechanical feel make it a very engaging car to drive.
Clearly well cared for, the car has benefitted from sensible recent works including four new Blockley tyres, alternator replacement, timing cover leak rectified, refurbished radiator, carbs tuned/refurbished, new rotor arm, coil and spark plugs, plus a discreetly fitted 12v socket for practicality.
It starts readily and runs nicely.
Accompanied by an extensive history file comprising its V5, 1950s buff logbook, Riley Maintenance Manual, a collection of old invoices and receipts, plus Riley Club ownership history and related ephemera.
