1934 Aston Martin Mk II (short chassis)

Brand new Ecurie Bertelli engine built around a new cylinder block,  only test miles completed since.  The original cylinder block comes with the car.

The Mk II model was introduced in 1934, as Aston-Martin’s replacement for the Le Mans. It sported a new, stronger chassis and an improved engine with counter-balanced crankshaft. Originally available in either short or long wheelbase versions: the shorter version being virtually mechanically identical to the famous and successful Ulster racing car. A number of Mk II cars competed in period and the competition lineage can be clearly seen making it an extremely capable and fast car, suitable for rally, touring and even racing events.

G4/457/S was sold new in 1934 to Mr William Morrison of Renfrewshire, who collected it from the factory in Feltham and drove it home to Scotland. During the war it was likely sold to a American officer who took it home after hostilities ended as it is recorded in the 1959 AMOC register as located in the USA.   In the early 1960s, AMOC member, Norman Pickup, took ownership of it  - and also owned an Aston Martin Le Mans.  In the early 1970s, Pickup sold both cars to Nick Mason, Pink Floyd drummer, famous historic car collector and founder of Ecurie Bertelli.  Nick Mason sold the still-untouched and original MkII to Silvio Fella, who re-registered it as GB11 and took part in several club races and other events in 1981/2.  In the mid-1980s the car was dismantled for the first time by Fella.  In the early 1990s Ecurie Bertelli started a full restoration of the car, spanning several years including rebuilding the engine with steel crank and rods.   In 2002 and after only 2,000 miles Fella sold the car to Paul Dezelsky, who used it sparingly as it was one of two Aston-Martin MkIIs he owned.

The current owner bought the car through Ecurie Bertelli in 2007 and took it to Germany where he campaigned it regularly in races and rallies with some success.  Now tidy, in good condition and driving very well with attractive light patina built up over the last 30 years, it is an ideal touring or rally car.  It is currently EU registered but is available to view and test drive from our showroom.

Please contact Ecurie Bertelli for full details or to arrange to view.
