1910 Mitchell Model S - 50HP Six Cylinder

Based in Racine, Wisconsin and being the largest wagon manufacturer in the USA, Mitchell-Lewis produced their first motor car in 1903.  Sales grew steadily from that early start and Mitchell Motor cars were renowned for their strength, reliability and value.

The Model S 50 HP was their first six cylinder car and the flagship model for 1910.  Notable customers being the Rockefeller family who purchased two and former US president, Theodore Roosevelt.

A very powerful, original, unrestored, huge 130 inch wheelbase 7 Passenger touring car of 7 litres/425.6 cubic inches.  One of only six known survivors, chassis 15013 is undoubtedly the most original and genuine example.   15013 is a very strong and reliable runner, which is offered for sale to be enjoyed as an 'Oily rag' preservation vehicle or as a basis for an easy restoration of a sound, original car having never been apart and nothing requiring replacement, only painting, polishing and reupholstering as required!  Mechanically sound and exhibiting very little sign of wear, undoubtedly due to long periods of inactivity and storage.

Mitchell 15013 was gifted in 1946 to the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Cleveland, Ohio by the reclusive and eccentric early aviator A K Miller.  A.K. was best known for his vast hoard of Stutz cars discovered hidden about his ranch after his death in 1993.  15013 remained with the museum until 1990 when it was purchased by Robert James and brought to the UK.  After light re commissioning Robert used the car on many VCC events in the UK and famously shipped her to New Zealand in 1996 to take part in the 50th Anniversary tour of the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand where she outperformed many other entrants including Silver Ghosts!

Of notable interest, 15013 featured in the 2004 film Finding Neverland and was driven extensively by Johnny Depp who played the lead role of JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.

I purchased the car from Robert later in 2004 and although dry stored, she never turned a wheel for the next 20 years.  two years ago, reluctantly I fitted a discreet electric starter which was achieved with minimal changes  to the cars originality, but has transformed usability dramatically.

Now in my late 70's, due to age and health issues  I have decided to offer 15013 for sale to be enjoyed and cherished by a new custodian.  The car is situated near to Stratford Upon Avon in the center of the UK.  If interested, please contact me on +44(0)7815 127 188 or email simon.c.evans@btinternet.com for more photos and video clips of her running.

Price - £135,000-00
