1926 Buick Master Six Saloon | Brightwells | Auction Ends: Wed 24th Jun

Exceptionally rare right hand drive Buick Master Six sedan; originally delivered new to Argentina; appears to have been subject to a full restoration; desirable 4,500cc engine; fresh from dry storage; simply beautiful condition

The imposing Buick Master Six formed part of Buick’s highly successful six-cylinder range during the mid-1920s, a period in which the marque had firmly established itself as one of America’s leading manufacturers of refined and well-engineered motor cars.

Powered by Buick’s smooth and dependable overhead-valve six-cylinder engine, the Master Six combined impressive performance and comfort for the era with handsome styling and imposing road presence, helping cement the company’s reputation for quality and durability both at home and abroad.

Today, these charming vintage-era Buicks are increasingly rare to encounter and make for highly enjoyable touring and show vehicles.

Manufactured in 1926, this incredibly smart Buick Master Six has a particularly interesting history and is understood to have been supplied new to Argentina, retaining its rare factory right-hand drive configuration together with KPH instrumentation, indicative of its unusual South American export specification.

Furthermore, the car proudly displays a plaque commemorating its restoration by Antonio J Bordoni and Mario R Galindo of Mar del Plata, a coastal city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.

While the exact date of the restoration work is unknown, the car was not imported into the UK until April 2003, indicating the work was completed prior to its arrival here. Since then, the car has had just three registered keepers, with the vendor’s family accounting for the latter two after purchasing the Buick within a month of it entering the country and retaining ownership for the last 23 years. The vehicle is now only being offered for sale due to the owner sadly passing away.

The family inform us that the car was their father’s pride and joy, always carefully stored indoors and used sparingly for special occasions, including several trips to Goodwood Revival, for which the car still proudly wears its members badge. They also advise that the Buick was maintained in running condition until around two years ago following their father’s passing, since then it has remained stored under dust sheets in the family garage prior to arriving on site.

No attempt has been made to start the vehicle due to a missing battery terminal cable, seemingly removed during the fitting of an electronic ignition system and battery isolator. Pleasingly, the engine still turns freely by hand.

The vehicle itself presents in very impressive condition throughout. The handsome two-tone paintwork retains an excellent depth of shine with no notable dents or scratches apparent and is complemented beautifully by contrasting red pinstriping and wooden wheels. The interior is equally impressive, with the seats, carpets and headlining all presenting very well indeed and offering the sort of luxury and craftsmanship expected of a quality 1920s Buick.

In summary, this Buick combines fascinating export history, long-term family ownership and excellent overall presentation, representing a rare opportunity to acquire a characterful and highly usable vintage-era motor car. Keenly estimated, it also appears to offer exceptional value within the pre-war market.
