1926 Stutz AA ‘Safety Stutz’ by Brewster

An exceptionally rare Stutz AA with Brewster coachwork and impressive engineering: a genuine first-generation ‘Safety Stutz’ in five-seat Brougham form.

Offered here is a 1926 Stutz AA with elegant coachwork by Brewster. The ‘Safety Stutz’ was among the most technically advanced American automobiles of its era. Its low centre of gravity, safety glass and four hydraulic drum brakes made the Stutz an exceptional motor car as early as 1926.

Beneath the bonnet is an impressive 4.7-litre straight-eight engine producing 92 bhp and featuring twin ignition, coupled to a three-speed manual gearbox. The engine, including the cylinder head, has been fully rebuilt and now runs superbly. An electric fuel pump provides additional reliability for modern-day use.

The car is attractively finished in petrol green with yellow accents. The paintwork is in very good condition and shows only minor signs of use. The interior has been completely retrimmed in cognac-coloured leather, which complements the exterior colour beautifully. The wheels have been refurbished and fitted with new tyres, while the electrical system has also been professionally overhauled. All four brakes have likewise been rebuilt.

Particularly noteworthy is the largely original and authentic character of this exceptional motor car. The work was carried out by a recognised specialist in these vehicles, with great care and without compromise. Numerous invoices and supporting documents record the mechanical refurbishment and the car’s interesting history.
